Who Knows

THE  RAIN IS FALLING EVERYONES WET
HE JUST SITS THERE, HAS NOT NOTICED IT YET
HIS HAIR IN STRAGGLES, HANGING DOWN
AS HE SITS ON THE PAVEMENT, IN THE CENTER OF TOWN.

AN OLD TATTERED  COAT COVERS HIM UP
THEN HE TAKES A DRINK FROM A DIRTY OLD CUP
THE RAIN IS STILL FALLING SPLASHING AROUND
STILL HE SITS THERE MAKING NO SOUND!.

PEOPLE AROUND HIM ALL BUSTLING BY
CHILDREN POINTING AND QUESTIONING  WHY
NO ONE CAN ANSWER THE REASON HE'S THERE
KNOW ONE WOULD ASK HIM, THEY WOULD NOT DARE.

THE ONLY ANSWER THEY CAN EVER FIND
IS PUTTING HANDS IN THERE POCKETS AND BEING KIND
FOR WHO KNOWS ONE DAY IT COULD BE
SOMEBODY JUST LIKE YOU OR ME.
