Looking Back

Looking back upon my life,
So strange now to recall,
Full of happy memories,
Beside the garden wall.

Wallflowers growing gaily,
Lilac trees hanging down,
Gingham and calico laces,
Not forgetting a red velvet gown.

Oh! Many's the time I go wandering
Down the lanes that once I knew,
Where profusions of daises and bluebells
I would pick, and take home a few.

Those days were my happiest moments,
Spent in childhood ways,
Something I'll always remember,
However I spend my days.
